Dismantling Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences – with the SCREW LOOSE toolbox – March to June 2024
From March to June 2024, the SCREW LOOSE, SHORT FUSE toolbox was set up at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS). This was made possible by the cooperation with the Center for Ethics and Responsibility (ZEV) and the university library, which provided both locations – Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach. A diverse accompanying program with guided tours, readings, discussions, and a Blue Engineers seminar brought the topics of ethics, responsibility, and technology design into conversation and invited students and visitors alike to reflect on society, technology, and their own actions.
The SCREW LOOSE exhibition itself has its roots in the Berlin Blue Engineering Course. The toolbox “SCREW LOOSE, SHORT FUSE is an invitation to take technology and society apart, recognize patterns, and explore alternative ways of negotiation. Whether it's the plastic dinosaur of eternity, the beard of patriarchy, or the straitjacket of nature, each tool reveals what often remains hidden and connects what seems separate. The idea is for visitors to take the tools with them—in their minds and hearts—so they can continue to dismantle, question, and redesign their own everyday lives.
